My Priorities
Mental Health
Embedded Counselors: One full-time mental health professional per school.
Wellness Rooms: Quiet spaces for students to decompress during the day.
Peer Support Programs: Train peer mentors for emotional first aid and support.
Parent Mental Health Education Nights: De-stigmatize and provide tools for families.
Clear and Inclusive Communication
Two-way dialogue: I believe communication should go both ways—families deserve to be heard, not just informed.
Accessible information: Ensure district communication reaches all families, with translations and formats that reflect our community’s diversity.
Transparency: Share timely updates and decisions clearly so families can stay informed and engaged.
Community voice: Create regular opportunities for families and staff to offer input and collaborate on solutions.
Engaging Families
Parent Academies: Free short courses that teach parents how to support learning at home.
Pop-Up Events: Host informal meetups in parks, libraries, or even grocery stores.
Culturally Specific Family Nights: Celebrate and involve diverse communities in meaningful ways.
Family Engagement Coordinators: Staff that bridge schools and multilingual families.
Special Education
Parent/Teacher SPED Taskforce: Improve communication and transparency with families.
Better IEP Tools: Use AI-driven or tech-based tools to streamline and customize IEPs.
Paraprofessional Support: Increase hiring of aides to better support student needs.
Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Culturally responsive curriculum: Support instruction that reflects and respects the identities and experiences of all students.
Ongoing DEI training: Provide staff with tools and resources to build inclusive, anti-racist learning environments.
Celebrating diversity: Recognize and uplift the many cultures, traditions, and backgrounds that make our district strong.
Equity-focused leadership: Identify and address systemic barriers so every student has the opportunity to thrive.
